This weekend we had the whole family together (all 8 of us.) Over lunch one day my sister stated, "I thought you were going to be one of those good bloggers who kept up to date." Guilt wave. I realized it has been over a month since I've written anything. Oops! Well, I'll do my best to fill you in on the last month.
1. My sister, Carrie, after turning in her mission papers with the wrong return address, finally received her mission call. She will be going to Seoul, South Korea. She leaves September 10th. I am so excited for her! After listening to the Korean alphabet, I don't really envy her learning Korean, though. Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDkIpvaAVL0 Don't worry, she's been studying like crazy and already knows most of the alphabet, how to say, "I want a hot dog", and the name of some cold weather clothing. She was made for this mission!
2. I finally received my California teaching licence! All right!!
3. My mom visited, and among many other fun things, she got us a Cost-co membership. No longer do we buy 1 of anything. We also picked our own strawberries at a u-pick strawberry stand, got in trouble with a farmer for driving down the dirt road (my mom just kept saying, drive a little closer......just a little closer......is that squash?.....a little closer), and found the perfect used book store.
4. My whole family came to visit for the fourth of July. We went to the neighborhood parade, visited the gold-mining towns, went to 'Old Sacramento' and just had a really, really good time.
5. We started getting the newspaper. We are now much more informed about Sacramento goings-on.
6. The Elders who were in my MTC group came home! It's been 6 MONTHS since I got home!
7. We briefly (I mean, really briefly!) visited Salt Lake. We only had time to visit our families (one each day) and we had a WONDERFUL time!
7. I've rededicated myself to being a 'good blogger'. We'll see how it goes!
My cousin, Stuart Glines is going to Seoul, S. Korea, too!
ReplyDeleteHow goes the teaching job hunt?
Steve and I are still trying to decide when we can come visit you. Hopefully it will be soon, but most likely will be next spring because I need to rack up more time off.
You ARE a good blogger, and I sure enjoy reading it! Nice summary, and I'm glad to hear you thought they were all good trips (mine to S., all ours to S., yours to SLC.
ReplyDeleteI loved the comment, "now we never buy one of anything."
I love you!
