The Halloween Results Post

Halloween was everything I hoped it would be! Thursday night we had a party for my brother-in-law, Brad. The menu included pumpkin soup, bone breadsticks, brain watermelon, vampire dip, and sparkling cider.

Halloween day we were off to Disneyland! It was a pumpkin and skeleton wonderland! We rode a whole bunch of rides and the best of all was the Haunted Mansion. It was COMPLETELY different! It was decorated from chimney to gravestone with scenes from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to ride it twice, but the line was just too long.

My brother-in-law got a "Happy Birthday" pin and received a flood of birthday wishes. The best birthday recognition he received was on the Jungle Cruise when Matt, our driver, asked everyone to clap in rhythm as he sang, "This is your Birthday song, it isn't very long." In honor of Brad, we ate lunch at the Blue Bayou, my favorite restaurant in the park.

The highlight of the night for my nephew, Gabe, was watching the popcorn machine. A nice Disney "cast member" named Erin gave Gabe the popcorn tour, from the unpopped kernels to scooping the buttery treat into the bag. I think we spent over twenty minutes watching popcorn. We asked Gabe, "Do you want to go ride the teacups?" He replied, "No. Watch popcorn." "Do you want to go on the train?" "No, Watch popcorn." "Do you want to go see Mickey?" "No, watch popcorn."

I had a wonderful, spookfilled adventure in Southern California, but in the end, the best part of Halloween ended up being just spending time with family. Thanks for the great trip!

  1. How fun! It's great that even though your family is more scattered now you still are able to get together fairly often. You have an adorable nephew too! You should get him a popcorn machine for Christmas.

  3. That was the funnest trip EVER. Oh, and yesterday we asked Gabe if he remembered Erin. His eyes got huge and he said, "YES!!!" I asked what Erin does, and he said "SHE MAKES POPCORN AT DISNEYLAND!!!!!"

  4. Kids are so easy to please. It makes me wonder why they make all those toys if they're perfectly happy with keys and popcorn.
