OK, there was no actual blood involved in this process, but there was sweat and some tears.
Today we bought Kate her very own toddler bed. Apparently we went about the bed introduction process in the wrong order. We started by first dismantling the crib. The second we took the mattress out of the frame, Kate started to cry. It got worse after Christian started to unscrew it (we had to take it apart in order to get it out the bedroom door). She kept looking at him with an expression that seemed to say, "What in the world are you doing to my bed? Why are you doing this??" Here's a picture of Kate's big crocodile tears.
About half way through the process of getting the crib through the door, Christian wisely decided we should get the new bed set up before we emotionally damaged our daughter any more. He is so wise. As soon as he opened the box, Kate's eyes lit up. She was so excited to help her daddy build her new bed.
She was even more excited once the bed was all set up. She kept climbing up and down and giggling. She's very proud of her new bed.
We were slightly worried about how she was going to transition to actually sleeping in the bed, but tonight she laid right down and went to sleep. A few hours later, she's still out! I'm glad the tears were only temporary.

Yay for Kate!! We LOVE having Betsy in a bed. And lucky for you, your "baby sleeps at night".
ReplyDeleteIf those quotation marks look odd, onlookers, I say that because my baby takes about 10 times longer to put to bed than Kate. And boy, did the Kelsey's rub it in in Utah :-)
ReplyDeleteCousin Dallin wasn't phased at all when we dismantled his toddler bed for our move. He just snuggled up closer to mom in her bed and got mad at dad when dad came back to get us all and wanted to sleep with mom. He tried to push K off and said, "MY BED!!!"
