The Little Mermaid's Sacrifice

Remember how the Little Mermaid made all sorts of sacrifices to be with her prince? I'm talking the Disney version here, not the original cut-out-your-tongue-turn-into-seafoam version. Remember how she gives her voice so that she can get legs?

Kate got a Little Mermaid doll for her Birthday from her Grandpa Chris. She loves it. She loves brushing her long red hair, taking her on walks, and pushing the round little button on her stomach that makes her sing.

I have a wireless keyboard. It takes 2 triple A batteries. My computer has been reminding me to change the batteries for quite sometime Finally this week, it gave up the ghost. Every day I sat down to my computer and tried to type when I was quickly reminded that I still hadn't purchased new batteries. Today I had it! I just wanted to use my keyboard (without all the effort of going to the store, of course). Here's the confession: I harvested 2 triple A batteries out of Kate's Little Mermaid doll.

I'm feeling a little guilty, but Kate hasn't noticed yet. I'm also sort of feeling like I should grant this poor doll some legs for her generosity.
