27 Looks Good on You

Christian had a birthday, shout hooray.

We had an awesome day celebrating an awesome guy.

We started out at a place called The Ice Castle. Basically, it's this giant ice sculpture you can walk around and through. There are lots of different tunnels and thousands and thousands of icicles. It's amazing and pretty thrilling since a giant icicle could fall and crush you at any moment. Okay, the crushing part might be a stretch of the truth, but looking up and seeing those things looming down, I had my doubts about their stability.

After we had been out long enough to turn into icicles ourselves, we headed over to get some pizza and warm up.
Once we were done eating, Kate couldn't wait to get home and set up the 'party'. A week before the big day, Kate carefully picked out balloons, candles, and a cake mix at the store. I left them in a bag near the microwave and every day she would delicately take each item over to Christian and tell him how excited she was to have a party for his birthday.

Christian opened presents, and surprise, surprise, Kate got him M&M's (don't worry, he got other presents as well).

We ended off the night with some cake thanks to of chef Kate (she did have a little help). She looks just a little guilty in this picture because I think she just licked one of the letters off the top.

When it was time, Kate sang her heart out to her dad. This was just a practice run:

Happy Birthday, Christian. You are the very best of the the best.
