A Fairly Nice Outing

I have always liked going to the fair. Sacramento had an awesome State and County Fair every year. When I found out we were moving to Denver, I was excited because I was sure that come late summer we would go to the State Fair (it is the capitol after all!). Nope. The State Fair is in Pueblo. We did, however, go to the Arapahoe County fair, and though not as large or impressive, we still had a very good time.

Apparently if you go the morning they open, you don't really have to fight for a parking spot.
James had a nice long chat with this goat.

Kate's favorite animal Bessie, the cow.

The kids ate very sticky ice cream on a very stick bench. James did actually get his own, but I didn't trust him alone with in long enough to take the picture. I think that's why he looks mad.

Kate decided that she wants a tractor for her birthday.

We watched them milk the cow and then give the milk to the piglets. Kate found that very funny for some reason. She then decided that she also wanted a pig for her birthday.

Finally, we spent some time in the 4-H building. There were all different displays with cakes, quilts, minatures, etc. Kate's favorite was the display of the the coloring contest. It was all the same picture and a whole bunch of kids had colored and submitted their own. Kate stared and stared at them like a high-paid art critic, pointing out her favoirtes. I couldn't help but laugh.

My favorite was this cake. I'm totally making this for my next birthday!

I love that blogger has an auto-correct for the direction of picture now, but they apparently think that cakes go vertically instead of horizontally.
