Catch-up Post: Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day. This year we didn't do anything particularly romantic or extraordinary, but it was still a really fun day. I think the kids' excitement made is so much more fun this year. When they woke up in the morning they both they both had cards and balloons waiting for them from Dad. Poor James, his balloon didn't last past 4:00 PM. It had a bad run in with a toy stegosaurus, but he sure had fun with it up until that point.
For breakfast we had pink waffles. How did they become pink you may ask? Beets! Christian hated that idea, but that's ok, the kids loved them.

Shortly after the waffles were finished, the doorbell rang and these lovely flowers arrived from my sweetheart.

The kids and I spent most of the day watching this sweet little Valentine, Penny. She's my friend's baby and she is such a sweet little girl!

For lunch we had pink macaroni and cheese. Any guesses? Yup. Beets again. I know, when Christian found out that's what we had for lunch, he cringed.

Don't worry, we made up for all the heart-healthy beets by eating some Valentine's cupcakes from our friend Andrea.

When Christian got home from work we had heart pizza and called it a day, and in my opinion, a perfectly lovely day.
