My relatives came to visit!! My grandparents, Aunt Becky, and Uncle David were passing through Denver on their way home from Colorado Springs so we met up with them along with my Great-Aunt Judy and Great Uncle Neil, who just moved to Denver, at the Museum of Nature and Science. It was a really busy day at the museum because of spring break, but we stuck to the 'pretty rocks' as James likes to say and had a really nice visit. It made me really happy how much fun my kids had seeing all the relatives.
When we got home, the kids spent about an hour fishing for worms. James coined the phrase 'puddling'.
That night Christian and I went on a date, thanks to our friend Mindy who watched the kids.
Friday:
Friday was my birthday and our anniversary. Can you believe we've been married 5 years?!? It has been a fantastic 5 years!!! I'm planning on writing more about that later. We'll see if I get around to it.
In the morning, the kids and I went to gymnastics and then to the dollar store to buy my friend (who shares a birthday with me) some balloons. They kids found these hats and fell in love with them.
We delivered the balloons and James immediately started to cry, "I want my balloon baaaaaaaack!!" Apparently I had not explained it well enough that the balloons weren't for us. Oh well. At that point, Christian stopped by home to say goodbye. He had found an awesome deal on a sublet for an apartment in Phoenix and went to go check it out. (He ended up getting it and I am really excited because it looks awesome!)
After naps, we dyed Easter eggs. James' version of dying Easter eggs was to squeeze them until the squished and then ask for another egg. I only fell for it three....or maybe four.....or maybe five times before I didn't give him any more.
Kate was much more delicate about the whole thing. She spent almost an hour coloring and dying.
She was very proud of the end result!
Friday night was when things started to get really exciting. I got really, really sick and I didn't know what to do. I was basically up all night (Happy Birthday to me, right?), well until 5 when James crawled into bed with me and snuggled me to sleep.
Saturday:
My sweet, wonderful friend Andrea took the kids all day while I went to the doctor and slept. They had so much for with her! She even took them to Chuck-e-Cheese for dinner. I am so very, very thankful for all the help she gave me! Christian came home about midnight and I was so glad he was home.
Sunday:
This was our last Sunday to go to the Bible Park Ward, so even though I was still feeling a little under the weather, I was determined to go to church. The doctor had given me anti-nausea meds which really helped, but made me really dizzy and kind of loopy. I literally ran into about thee different people and even into the wall once. I was released from being the Relief Society President during Sacrament Meeting. I am really grateful I got to have that experience. I learned so much and got to work with some amazing women that I really look up to.
After church the kids took a nap while the Easter Bunny visited. They were pretty happy with the results.
The look on James' face in this picture makes me laugh so hard.
The Easter Bunny was pretty stingy this year and only put 2 or 3 M&M's in each egg. I'm glad he did because as soon as the kids found all the eggs, they ate every single last piece of candy without even pausing to breathe.
Kate was so happy about her basket and her bunny. She kept squeezing the bunny and saying, "Thank you Easter Bunny!"
Monday:
I realized we only have about a week left before we move. I'm kind of going crazy! However, if this next week goes by as fast as the last one, I'm pretty sure it will be over before I know it.
You do realize that Phoenix is only 3 hours away from Yuma, right? We're excited you'll be "close by" since your sister and her family will be deserting us soon. Hope you're up to visitors for temple trips!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm excited we'll be that close! I was telling Emmy that it's a good half-way meeting place while she's still in San Diego. We'd love visitors for temple trips!!
