Kate's birthday party and birthday were about a week apart. It was just easier to space them out.
The night before her birthday, I decided to blow up about sixty balloons to fill up her room. It took quite a few lung-fulls.

Kate told us that the one thing she really wanted for her birthday was a replacement build-a-bear for the one she lost when we were moving to Phoenix. How could you say no to a request like that? So, we started the day off at the mall.
Here's what the finished product looked like. Her name is Cookie Bear.

Across from Build-a-Bear was the Lego Store. We spent quite a while there. James decided he wanted this for Christmas. Hopefully he forgets before December.
On the way back, Kate wanted to stop by the zoo to get her free ice cream and button. She was kind enough to share with her brother. She only shared the ice cream, not the button.
After dinner, Kate opened her presents. This was one of her favorites, princess Legos. For the most part, she could figure out how to put it together from the instruction book.
I am so happy to have this 5 year old in our lives. It seems like being a mom gets more fun all the time.
