James' Birthday

The day before James' birthday he and I spent the morning just the two of us making his cake. Christian got me a gift certificate for Christmas to this place called My Make Studio (think Color-Me-Mine but with cakes instead of pottery). There we got to use all the fun tools and candies to make a Superman cake.




After the cake, we headed over to my friend Chrysti's house so that she could take pictures of James. They turned out SO CUTE! I'm going to save those for another post, though. 

On James' birthday he couldn't even wait until after breakfast to start opening presents. Most of his presents were Legos and by the end of the day he had put together each set at least twice. This boy loves Legos. We gave him his big present the night before, a bunk bed.

For breakfast he had birthday toast.

Then we headed off for a morning at the zoo with a friend. Half way through the zoo he was already begging to go home and play Legos again.

He played Legos all afternoon, then Daddy came home, went out to dinner at Noodles, and headed home for Superman cake. 

James is such a fun 4 year old! He is very kind hearted. He loves to give me hugs and snuggles. He likes to give me very thoughtful gifts, usually one of his toys on loan. As I said, he loves to play Legos and can put together most of his sets without help. He loves to pretend with Kate. He loves Superman (obviously), Magic Tree House books, science books, learning how things work, 'How it's Made' videos on youtube, and Magic School Bus books and shows. He has a serious sweet tooth and can always smell anything sweet baking. He knows all the letters and all the sounds and likes to put together silly words for me to read. He reads a few words on his own, but mostly wants to be read to. He is not a big fan of writing. He likes to be sneaky and LOVES jokes. He likes to hear jokes and tell jokes. My favorite was one he make up after Christian taught him about the 5 second rule. It went like this: Knock Knock. Who's there? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 who? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, oops! It's been too long. You can't eat it any more.
