My Little Princess

For Christmas Kate's grandpa gave her a box full of princess dresses. She has an absolute blast getting dressed up in all the different dresses and dancing around the room as we listen to 'princess music' on Pandora radio.

Recently we bough a Princess book at the bookstore, and Kate realized that she was missing out on a couple of dresses, so she asked me if we could get them. She already had Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, so she told me that she needed a Belle dress. I decided try my hand at making it. I used a pattern for most of it but then gave up and finished it with my own imagination (especially since the pattern left the dress way past her feet).
This is as far as I got before I deviated from the pattern:

And this is how it turned out in the end. It was my friend Emily's GENIUS suggestion to put the snaps in the skirt so that it wouldn't be so long.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Kate is happy too. She's thanked me over and over and then immediately requested a Mermaid, Tiana, and Rapunzel dress. I have a vision for a mermaid dress, so maybe she'll get lucky.

  1. What talent! I need to take sewing lessons from you. The dress looks way cute. When do you find time to do this anyway?
