My Little Smarty Pants

Kate is fun to take shopping. I usually draw her a shopping list and she brings along a pen to cross off the items as we put them in the cart. She is really helpful, too. I send her down the isle in front of me with an errand like, "Go find a box of Mini-Wheats" and she almost always comes back successful. Yesterday we went to the store and one of the things on our list was peanut butter. We arrived at the right isle and stood in front of all the different options. Kate found one with a picture of Mr. Peanut on the front and really wanted to get it. I wanted to get Jif because it was bigger and cheaper (and we go through a LOT of peanut butter at our house). Kate was very determinded to get the one with Mr. Peanut. This is how our conversation went:

Me: Why don't we get this one? It's bigger.
Kate: Let's get this one. I like this guy.
Me: This one is really tasty, should we try it?
Kate: No. I think we need this one. I like this peanut guy.
Me: I was thinking we should get this one because it has a J on in just like James has a J in his name (she gets really excited about letters, especially if it's a J or a K).
Kate: No, Mom. James name is J A M E S and that just says J I F.

I started laughing really hard. Then I gave in and bought Mr. Peanut.
