It all started with Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone requested something different. Christian wanted mashed potatoes, glazed ham, and sparkling cider. Kate wanted strawberries. James wanted macaroni and cheese. I wanted to make something off Pinterest, which ended up being that lovely cherry candy cane thing you see below. It might not look too fancy (I mean, who doesn't even put out a tablecloth for Christmas?), but everyone was very pleased with the results.
The next step was preparing for Santa's visit by making cookies and dipping carrots in colored sugar for the reindeer. The sugar ended up looking like Cheeto dust, but whatever, Kate thought it was fun. She spent quite a bit of time preparing this reindeer snack and kept telling me how much they were going to like it.
I really wanted to get a picture with me and the kids under the tree. James hated that idea.
He was much happier taking a picture with his sister.
While the kids were sleeping, Santa stopped by and left everything that they wanted.
James was so happy when he saw his hot-fire-football.
Kate loved this present from the start because it was wrapped in princess paper. On Christmas Eve at about five o'clock our good friend from church stopped by with one present for Kate, one for James, and one for the adults. It was so sweet!!! It meant a lot to me! Kate REALLY wanted to open her princess present that night, and tried twice to open in, but finally ended up waiting until morning to open it.
James loved the fact that he was playing with fire trucks and wearing fire trucks.
Here's a display of some of the loot.
And my favorite present? Here it is! This is where we will be moving in February. Do you love it?? I do! We'll still be renting, so it's not technically ours, but I love everything about it. It's perfect, perfect, perfect. It's only a block away so it's going to be one of our easiest moves yet! The kids and I drive by almost every day to look at it. They are almost as excited as I am to move.
Happy Holidays!
