Christmas Eve we went to a special story time at Bookies book store.
Can you tell there wasn't a very big crowd? After story time we stopped by the laundromat right next door so that the kids could ride the mechanical horse. I realized I didn't have any quarters, so the kids decided to sit on the horse and pretend they were having a ride. Kate went first. Then she wandered off to look at the candy machine. James asked me to put him on the horse. There was a little boy 7 or so years old lurking by the horse for some reason. I couldn't figure out why, so I decided to ignore him and put James on the horse anyway. The second James' seat hit the saddle, I hear a clink and the horse started to go. I looked up to see a smiling 7 year old who had just put a quarter in so that my son could have a ride. It was my own little Christmas Eve miracle. James' eyes lit up and he immediately figured out what had happened. He pointed a the boy and said, "That nice boy made the horse go! What's your name?" Turns out that sweet little boy's name is Anderson. What a cute boy!
After dinner on Christmas Eve, the kids got to open 2 presents, their Christmas jammies and blankets I had made for them with their favorite colors and prints. The blankets don't exactly match, but the kids loved them!
We of course left out cookies and carrots for Santa.
It's good we did because he was very kind to us!
Christmas morning it took quite a bit of convincing to get James to leave his new train table and open up some other presents.
Kate was as happy as could be coloring in her coloring book from Santa.
Christian spent almost all day on his present from the kids, a Christmas puzzle.
For dinner we had the missionaries come over. They were almost as excited about the train table as James was. They played with it for at least a half an hour.
I guess they're still just kids at heart.
