Kate spent hours playing with Blaze, Bomb and Ditto (the relatives' dogs) while we were in Utah. She had so much fun with them that she decided she wanted to have a dog party for her birthday.
Kate and I had a lot of fun planning her party and coming up with dog themed ideas. Our first idea was to make a dog house. A long time ago my mom asked me to sew her some scrub tops for work. The project was a total flop (I've since learned that I'm not really good at sewing clothes for adults), but I had some really cute leftover fabric, perfect for a dog house.

Kate made dog bone invitations for her friends, and helped me deliver them.
Kate declared that a party just isn't a party without a pinata. Lucky for us, we found the perfect one. We filled it with snoopy fruit snacks and chocolate coins.
With felt and headbands, we made dog ears for each of the kids. We also found some really cute dog bowls at the dollar store.
Kate came up with the idea of a pin-the-tail-on-Snoopy game. I put my artistic ability to the test.
The night before the party, I made rolls shaped like dog bones. Kate was thrilled when she saw them.
They then ate 'dog food' out of their bowls (really just chocolate cheerios).
Then it was time for games. The kids played hide the bone, pin the tail, and pinata.
Kate opened her presents. They were all such thoughtful gifts!
And then it was time for cupcakes.
Afterward the kids played for a long time together, because after all, that's the most fun part of a party.
Stay tuned for a soon-to-come post about the rest of Kate's birthday.
