Art Day

We found a new *free* art museum. Ok, so the museum had a suggested donation of $2 a person, but didn't have any cash, and I definitely wasn't going to leave my credit card in the donation box. The museum was surrounded by lots of different statues outside, which my kids ended up liking even more than the stuff inside. There were free coloring books (at least, I hope they were free....they were out next to a whole bunch of flyers, so I kind of assumed. If you can't tell, there weren't a lot of people on staff that day.) with different picture of statues from around Denver. My kids recognized one of them right away, and had fun looking for some of the others.

After we wandered around for a while, I saw a sign for a free art bus. From what I understood, the bus drove by some of the statues around the neighborhood. I loaded my kids onto the bus explaining to them that we were going to get to see more art out the window. I apparently I did not understand quite right. I think that was the original purpose for the bus, but really, it's just a free thirty-minute-loop city bus, and it just happens to be called the art bus. The bus passed by 3 or 4 statues, but that was about it. It also passed by a high school and picked up about 15 teenagers, bailing on school for the day. I don't think my kids have ever heard the F word so many times in their life. Oh well, they got exposure to two types of culture that day.

  1. I miss all the art and community programs out there. I can't believe how big James is. His hair has darkened so much.
