While Kate is at school on Tuesdays, James and I have been going to a free art class in Aurora. The program is funded through the state, so they are able to offer free art classes for kids 3-6 in the morning and 7-18 in the afternoon. The afternoon classes have a group called 'work study' and they teach kids how to create marketable art. They make really cool stuff! If you can see on the counter of the picture below, they've been using old fire extinguishers to make lamps. It is a really great program!
So far James has made a clay wind-chime, a clay pot, and a watercolor painting of fall trees.
The teacher is great, and best of all, she's from Brazil. I like to speak to her in Portuguese, but it kind of disturbs James when I do. He looks at me like I'm doing something bizarre.
Next to the art studio is a gallery with the kids' art. Right now there is a robot exhibit with all different pieces that the older kids made. Each robot has and element that turns on and moves in some way. This Robot was my favorite.
