There is a wonderful woman at Kate's school who organizes all sorts of field trips for the Options families. The last field trip we participated in was a trip to the Symphony. It only cost five buck a person, and it was wonderful!
The night before we were going to go, it started to snow. And snow and snow and snow. As we got up in the morning and started to get ready to go, I decided we should give ourselves a little over an hour to get downtown. On a normal day it would have taken us about a half an hour, so I thought that doubling that time would be sufficient. Boy was I wrong! We were about 35 or 40 minutes late. I was panicked and frantically ran with James on my shoulders and Kate holding onto my hand for the block and a half from the parking garage to the arts complex. I'd never been there before, and my phone was not helpful at all with figuring out which way to go. Finally, I asked a nice policeman if he knew where the symphony was. He said, "I don't, but I have seen a bunch of school kids going that direction." We had been standing right in front of it.
Well, we got in, got to our seats and this is what we saw.
Apparently half the symphony was also stuck in traffic, along with several of the school buses that were supposed to be joining us there. Lucky for us, we didn't miss a single thing. About 15 minutes after we arrived, it finally got started.
The kids LOVED the music.
*Just a side note, Christian does not condone matching children. This was all my doing.
By the way, did I mention that it was snowy?? This was our walk back to the car.
