The day before we left for our trip to Utah, the kids painted their own shirts for the 4th of July.
That night I put the kids to bed and then heard loud bangs. I got the kids back out of bed and we watched a firework show from our porch.
We drove the south route to Utah and stopped in Vernal to see dinosaur bones.
My little paleontologists were pretty impressed.
The kids got Jr. Ranger badges and wore them proudly.
On the morning of the 4th we went to the Holladay City parade. The kids rode in the 'float' with my cousin's cute daughter. All three had some serious self control when they threw the candy out of the float instead of eating it.
After the parade there was a big pancake breakfast. Yum.
The kids got to visit with the firefighters.
James decided to become a firefighter.
After the the events of the morning Kate, Carrie, Tanya and I went to get pedicures. They had this cute little chair for Kate.
Our chairs were less cute, but my company sure was cute.
This was the end result.
We went over to my in-laws and Kate played and played and played with Kayla, even though Kayla had just gotten her wisdom teeth taken out. Kayla's a pretty good sport!
That night we had dinner and fireworks and my parents' house.
We headed down to Holladay City Hall to watch fireworks (it's a 3 minute walk from my parent's house!). This is our third year in a row going to this fireworks show and the kids have never been able to stay up late enough to watch it. This year they were so determined to stay awake. James lasted about 9 minutes. Then he slept through the rest. It takes some serious talent to sleep through something that loud!
