James had his first day of school on Kate's actual birthday so she and I headed off to the zoo just the two of us. She loved having a girl trip.
She was most excited about her free birthday ice cream cone. She even let me have a couple of licks.
I used to get on the carousel for free when the kids were smaller, but not any more. So I waited on the sideline and waved like crazy every time this cute face came by.
After we pick up James at school we went home to open a couple of presents from grandparents.
For dinner we went to the aquarium to watch the mermaid show.
The kids were totally mesmerized and I'm pretty sure James fell in love with the mermaid that kept blowing him kisses.
Afterward we headed home for cake and more presents. It was a pretty magical day! Happy birthday to this darling girl!
