School Stuff

I post a lot about Kate and James' schools (which are both amazing), but we also do some really fun stuff the rest of the week when we're at home (or not, as the case may be). Here are some highlights from the last couple of months.

We did an activity where the kids washed towels by hand. I don't know why, but they went nuts for this and wanted to do it over and over.

The kids made cascarones while they were studying Mexico.

We studied Egypt and made pyramids.

They decorated the pyramid walls.

We made mummies.

We went on an awesome field trip to Cafe Rio.

We read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and then went to a candy factory.

They didn't have Oompa Loompas, but still really fun!

We went on a field trip to Dinosaur Ridge to learn about fossils.

We did a study of right handedness vs. left handedness and then made graphs.

We went on a field trip to a Nature center to learn about 'spooky animals'.

We made leaf books in the park with friends.

We spent and afternoon smashing different pumpkins and squash to count which had the most seeds.

I really enjoy all the stuff we get to do together, and I especially get excited when the kids come up with activities on their own that they want to do. I'm grateful I get to use my Elementary Education degree on a daily basis and I think it's way more fun to have a classroom at home.
