My Wonderful 3 Year Old!

Can you believe this is what my little guy looked like 3 years ago??? He's still just as adorable.

James decided he wanted a pirate party for his birthday. I was making some pirate decorations and then I got distracted with something in the kitchen. These two came around the corner and gave me quite a startle!

Today when James woke up, I made the kids sprinkle french toast, then we headed to story time. James must have felt different as a 3 year old because usually he wants to sit on my lap during story time, but today he jumped right into the crowd. He did keep looking back at me, though.

After story time we walked across the street to this cute ice cream shop.

After naps, the kids painted pirate t-shirts for James' birthday party tomorrow.

The second James got home, he decided it was time to open his presents.

He had lots of fun playing with them.

It started to get seriously messy. Wrapping paper was everywhere.

James spent a long time thinking about where he wanted to go for dinner. He had it narrowed down to Noodles or Red Robin. Finally he settled on Red Robin because he wanted to be sung for.

Finally we went home and had cake. Christian laughed at my cake decorating skill. Oh well.

1. James love science. He's obsessed with outer space and inside his body. He loves looking at the science section in the library.
2. James loves to read. He has a basket of books next to his bed and he is always toting it all over the house.
3. James has a basket of trains that he carries around all over. He calls them his train babies. He likes to cover them with blankets and pretend to feed them. He has to have them by his bed at night or he gets grumpy.
4. James loves sports. His favorites right now are basketball and baseball, but he's pretty much happy with any type of ball. Often when we go outside he finds a pine cone and a stick and plays baseball with them. He's getting pretty good! I've seen him toss the pine cone in the air and actually hit it on the way back down several times.
5. James has a serious sweet tooth. He can smell candy from a mile away!
6. James has a pretty good sense of rhythm. He's good at making up songs and playing along with them.
7. James still gets happy with his whole body and angry with his whole body. He shimmies when he's happy and thrashes when he's mad.
8. James decided he wants to be a pilot. I told him that to be a pilot he needs to learn about reading, math, and science. Ever since he'll sit me down and read me books. Then he'll say, "See mom, I'm learning to read so I can be a pilot!"
9. James is a very, very, very sweet boy. He is always looking for ways to help out. He also still loves to snuggle.

I love my little 3 year old and I'm so glad he's a part of my life!
